About the Ensemble

Aiken Kinderchoir is vocal ensemble for boys and girls in the CSRA area. They range in age from pre-kindergarten to grade three and represent many area schools.

This ensemble was founded in 2012 by Director, Lorraine Ray. Since then, the ensemble has performed with M'Aiken Music, Belles Canto, and Bound to Sing. We have performed for "Character First" with the Aiken County Schools, for the Optimist Society, for the Mayor's retirement celebration for GreenJacket's baseball game and for the United Way awards banquet. In addition, Aiken Kinderchoir encourages community service; we have taken our music to Anchor Rehab, Azalea Woods, Cumberland Village, and Cumberland Hill. The Kinderchoir has also performed "God Bless America" for an Augusta Greenjackets game.

Aiken Kinderchoir prides itself on creating an engaging environment where kids can learn music fundamentals and grow as young musicians while being expressive and working together as a group to create beautiful music.

Marisa Rivera is a vocalist, music educator, and conductor pursuing a degree in Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance at the University of South Carolina Aiken. Her formal vocal training began at Charleston County School of the Arts, where she studied as a vocal major and performed in the Honors Choir.

Marisa has several years of experience working with young singers, including two years as an intern with Palmetto Youth Choir, where she led warm-ups and sectionals, assisted during rehearsals, and conducted songs. She also teaches private voice lessons and serves as a Choral Scholar at First Presbyterian Church of Aiken, where she sings as a soloist and section leader and assists with conducting.

As the director of Kinderchoir, Marisa is passionate about creating joyful, structured rehearsals where every child feels welcomed and encouraged. Her goal is to help young singers build confidence, develop strong musical foundations, form friendships, and discover a lasting love of music.
